In the Governor's May budget proposal there is a $50M proposal to provide preschool to students served by schools in the bottom 30% of schools on the Academic Performance Index (API). Read Daniel Weintraub's column in the Sacramento Bee for the details.

I really like this proposal because it concentrates the help on the students who need it most and at its largest, it will only cost $145M, rather than the $2.4B+ from Proposition 82. Good job Governor!
